Sustainable production has many different aspects. Energy consumption and waste prevention are just as important as the selection of ingredients, production conditions, and supply chains. At Brauns-Heitmann, we therefore take a holistic approach to production and continuously set new goals for ongoing improvement.
We have already achieved a lot. At our headquarters in Warburg, we use 100 per centgreen electricity and eco-gas. We invest in ergonomic and safe workplaces, with a particular focus on the production environment and workplace safety.
Eighty per cent of our suppliers are located within 500 kilometres of our headquarters, and all suppliers are committed to our code of conduct. As an internationally oriented company, we are also a member of the Foreign Trade Association (FTA) and the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). This allows us to ensure fair working conditions and wages throughout the entire supply chain.

Proximity promotes sustainability
Short distances are good for the climate. Currently, more than half of our suppliers are located within 200 kilometres of our headquarters in Warburg. Eighty per cent of all suppliers are within a 500-kilometre radius. We plan to increase this proportion further in the future. In addition to distance, the mode of transportation also crucial for the carbon footprint. That’s why we aim to promote rail transport and e-mobility even more strongly.
Bit by bit
Brauns-Heitmann is a manufacturing company. The greatest sustainability potential lies in our production processes. That’s why we use 100 per cent green energy for our operations and invest in modern technology to increase energy efficiency and optimise manufacturing processes. We have already achieved considerable progress in recent years, but we continue to strive for more. As an EMAS-validated company, we set clear targets to continuously improve our environmental performance—in every product we manufacture and across the entire company. A prime example of this is our climate-neutral products from HEITMANN pure.
